We know people each put various degrees of thought and time toward planning a trip to a new church. We want to make sure your visit is stress-free, so here are answers to our top questions!
1. When do I show up?
Our service times are listed at the bottom of every page. Feel free to show-up a few minutes early and stop by our Next Steps area for a small gift. If you have children who would like to participate in our children’s ministry, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the service you are attending.
2. What do I wear?
You’ll find that we’re pretty casual – shorts, jeans, t-shirts, slacks, dresses – it’s all good. You won’t find many suits and ties though, but if that’s what you’re comfortable wearing, go for it.
3. What about parking?
If you arrive while a service is still going on, you’ll find our parking lot fairly full. Never fear, though, we have reserved your place already! The entire row closest to the doors of our biggest building is equipped with parking reserved for our first time visitors. We have handicap spaces along the front of the main building and senior parking directly in front of our main doors as well. If you have kids, consider parking in front of RLM 2 (the middle-sized building). The RLM 2 building is our children’s ministry building and includes family parking in front!
Also, look for our friendly Shuttle Team (covered golf carts). They will pick you up in the parking lot and bring you to our front doors. After service, they’ll be happy to give you a ride back out to your car.
4. Where do I go once I arrive?
All of our services take place in RLM 1 (the larger building – see map). If you need some coffee or tea, we offer free drip coffee and tea, or visit the Lifer Cafe in our lobby for a specialty beverage or some delicious food. When you walk through the front doors, you’ll be greeted by a friendly team of volunteers. If you have kids that you’d like to register for children’s ministry, we have a child check-in system inside those main doors and will gladly get your family registered in a matter of minutes.
5. Where do my kids go?
We take caring for your children extremely seriously. Taking a minute to give us some information right here on our website will enable us to quickly complete your family’s registration when you arrive and contribute to an amazing experience. Visit our Children’s Ministry page for details.
We also have opportunities for older children. Our Middle School Ministry offers a service specifically geared to that age group on Thursday nights during the 6:15 pm service and Sunday mornings during the 9:30 am service. Our High School Ministry encourages students to attend services with friends or family, look for their group to have a special section at the 11:00 am service on Sunday mornings.
NOTE: You are welcome to take your children into service with you, but we think they’ll have a great time with us.
6. What will happen during the service?
Perhaps you have not spent much time in a church before, we’d like to prepare you in advance so you understand the basics of what you will experience. Feel free to check out our “I’m New to Church” page for details and a brief explanation.
7. Will I be singled out?
As a visitor you won’t be singled out in any way. You can remain completely anonymous if you want. But don’t be surprised if you can’t make it out the door without people greeting you and trying to make you feel welcome and at home.
8. Whoa, this place is big (ok, we know this is not a “question,” but it’s a frequent comment)!
It’s true, Real Life is a big place with a ton of stuff going on all the time. But the crazy thing is, it’s also one of the smallest churches you’ll ever attend. That’s true because of one thing: We do life together each week in small groups. While you’re here, please stop by Next Steps area in our lobby, RLM 1. There you’ll find our Connections Team who can answer your questions and help you find out all the ways to plug-in here at Real Life.
